The inauguration of the Arise African Fashion Week kicked off on Friday, 12 June 2009, and has ever since showcased a number of extremely talented and promising African designers that we should all keep our eyes on. Upon leaving the Lanre da Silva and Gloria Wavamunno shows, I couldn't resist the urge to photograph some really stylish and cool kids... So I did just that. Most of them were either studying fashion design, working for fashion magazines or designers themselves. I hope you like them as much as I did.

Aran... Cute Bag!

Maleeq... I love the hat!

Preppy Chic...Derrick Mhlongo

Meet Palesa Mzizi... she just looked too cute, I couldn't resist

Ramon McHardy... He's studying fashion design and he made his jacket.

Olivia and Alice. They're both co-designers for Lalesso

The Cute Finnish Gal... Suvi Matinaro. She's an assistant designer for a leading Finnish textile and clothing company called Marimekko, but was at the African Fashion Week with the Pambili team.

The Models... Isi Atagamen and Amaka Chirah

Ridhwana Shaik and Melissa Maxted
They both work for magazines, The Oprah Magazine and Glamour South Africa.

Fashionable Siblings... here is Gloria Wavamunno's sister wearing one of her sister's creations
