There's no escaping it... military jackets are everywhere, it started with the trophy jacket ' à la Michael Jackson' featured in the Balmain S/S 09, and now  In the Balmain RTW 2010 we see even more 'ready to step on the battlefield' wear in the Balmain RTW 2010, however it was done with a bit of a twist... distressed leathers, chains and torn jeans... khaki and I especially love the fact that although the military trend is making a comeback, it's doing so without overloading us with camouflage like it did in the past. The gold in the jackets also adds that element of luxury to the military trend... beautiful. On Garance Dore's blog... I also discovered a hint of the trend that I loved... mixing lace and a military jacket... I would've never thought of it but wow... does it look great. And for the men... D&G, Trussardi and Moschino also adapted this trend... and I must say that it looks great on the men too... It seems as though as soon as you throw one of the jackets on, you can't help but have an attitude... I guess it comes with the territory... I thought I'd leave you with Rihanna's video - Hard... where the entire theme is war... although I think Rihanna doesn't have much of a personality when it comes to her style (everything looks like it was dictated to her)... this video is beautifully styled...

PIRELLI CALENDAR 2010

So I finally managed to get my hands on the actual pictures of the calendar. They are very risque, I must warn you but I don't think it takes away from the artistry behind it and the tastefulness. This Calendar is actually one of my favourites, right after the 2004 Pirelli Calendar. Enjoy.

BACKSTAGE AT PIRELLI CALENDAR 2010 WITH TERRY RICHARDSON

The location: random place in beautiful Brazil (sigh... I need a holiday) and just by looking at the model line up for this year's edition of the Pirelli Calendar, one can only see that it's going to be 'muito quente'.From Rosie Huntington, Ana Beatriz Barros (who i love... she's gorgeous), Lily Cole (odd for me be still not bad), Daisy Lowe, Catherine McNeil, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Marloes Horst, Miranda Kerr, Georgina Stojilkovicg, Eniko Mihalik and Gracie Carvalho (my favourite model at the moment and she's only 18!)... the 2010 Pirelli Calendar promises to be a success. Unfortunately it's extremely hard to get your hands on the photos so early into the year because you have to buy the Calendar but here are the pictures I managed to find. For some reason, after looking at these pictures, I didn't feel any form of shame or disgust (even though it was quite raw), actually it made me feel as though going topless  is not that much of a big deal. It's probably because the models do it in such a natural way and they don't make it look vulgar. Don't get me wrong, I would never go topless but although I found the pictures quite raw, I also found them quite tasteful. That's probably why I like Pirelli Calendars.
